Lennon Killer up for Parole
John Lennon's murderer will be eligible for parole next month.
Mark Chapman, who shot the Beatle dead in New York, will face a parole board hearing. Chapman, 49, was denied parole in 2002 on the ground that it would undermine the seriousness of his crime.
He was sentenced to 20 years' jail after shooting Lennon in the back as the musician returned to his block of flats, near Central Park, on December 8, 1980. Lennon was with his wife, Yoko Oko, when he has murdered. She has opposed Chapman's release in the past.
