New Film featuring Beatles Music

Plans are under way in Hollywood to produce a movie musical based on songs by the Beatles, the Hollywood Reporter said Tuesday.

The paper said Revolution Studios, which founder Joe Roth named after the Beatles' song of the same name, plans to make All You Need Is Love -- described as a love story about a British boy and an American girl set against a backdrop of social and cultural change in the 1960s.

The screenplay was written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais (The Commitments, Tracey Takes On).

The musical will use Beatles tunes to drive the narrative, with the actors singing and dancing to the songs. The paper said the filmmakers are in talks to secure re-recording rights for roughly 18 Beatles songs for the project.
