Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story
Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story has been released on DVD.
The film immediately starts out as biographical introducing you to front man Joe Elliot (pictured), the man whose perseverance and passion brought the band full circle. Rounding out the crew was Steve Clark, lead guitarist, Rick Allen on drums, Rick Savage, bassist and Phil Collen who replaced rhythm guitarist Pete Willis.
With biographies out of the way the movie then runs similar to a well played soap opera, sucking you into the turmoil of their lives as you witness the band fiddling with drugs, alcoholism, women and inner demons.
Tragedy ensues as drummer Rick Allen, just a youngster at 21, loses his left arm in a horrific car accident. Determined to remain the thrashing drummer he is, Rick invents a foot pedal system and teaches himself to play with only his right arm and two feet. The film also accurately portrays Steve Clark, who fought alcoholism throughout life, only to end in death in 1991. The rest is rock history.
