"Queen" + Paul Rodgers 2005 tour begins
Amid endless fan debates on Queen's Official website at www.queenonline.com about the moral right of Brian May and Roger Taylor using the name Queen, the European tour of Queen plus Paul Rodgers starts Monday at the Brixton Academy in London. It will be the first time that Brian May and Roger Taylor will have toured together under the Queen umbrella since the "Magic Tour" in 1986. A taste of what is to follow was presented at the 46664 concert in South Africa a week ago. Paul Rodgers' performance was not impressive but one can argue that proper sound checks were not carried out and it was merely a 14 song set list in a "foreign" environment. However, almost everyone has digested the fact that Queen will never be the same again without the late Freddie Mercury and John Deacon, the bassist, who has retired from the music scene.
Still, the excitement is massive and the majority of venues are sold out or are expected to sell out which proves that Queen maintain a loyal fan base in Europe.
If you will be attending go with an open mind. Do not expect to see the mighty live band of the 70s and 80s but do anticipate to enjoy a performance by a group of legendary musicians.
