U2 play free LA concert
U2 played a Saturday rehearsal gig at the Los Angeles Sports Arena for radio-contest winners, and also admitted some fans who had lined up outside the venue in hopes of catching the performance. U2 opened with City of Blinding Lights followed by The Electric Co., An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart, Beautiful Day, Miracle Drug, Sometimes You Can't Make it On Your Own and Love and Peace or Else. Other songs on the setlist included "Elevation," "Stuck In a Moment," "Yaweh," "Bullet the Blue Sky, Running to Stand Still, Zoo Station, The Fly and Vertigo.
The setlist was completed with Pride (In the Name of Love), Where the Streets Have No Name, One, All Because Of You and 40.
A message on U2's website said that Saturday's show may provide clues to what the band will play on its upcoming tour, which launches Monday March 28 in San Diego, but everything could change.
U2 manager Paul McGuinness said in a statement: "The tour set list will definitely be about half of the new album. We're not about cabaret or greatest hits. People are expecting the new songs because they are on the radio and at the top of the charts."
The last U2 tour in 2001 saw them play to two million people and earned them 80 million dollars.
