U2 start 2005 Vertigo tour in San Diego

One of the most anticipated tours of the year, U2's 2005 Vertigo, kicked off on Monday night (March 28, 2005) at the San Diego Sports Arena, California in front of a capacity crowd of 14,000.

The Irish rockers performed seven songs from the multiplatinum album, "How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb," plus a number of tracks that have not been featured in a U2 live set in years.

The 115-minute U2 show opened with new song "City of Blinding Lights" and closed with "40," from the band's 1983 album "War."

Bono's voice might not be what it used to be 10 or 20 years ago, but U2 have proven that they are still one of the greatest live bands in the world.
