Nirvana's "Nevermind" immortalised
The American Library of Congress suddenly smells like teen spirit. 20 experts from the music industry and preservation field decided to give a new set of 50 US sound recordings long-term preservation to make them available to future generations. Recordings must be at least 10 years old to qualify and Nirvana's landmark 1991 album, Nevermind, which helped Curt Cobain and co. launch a radio revolution and make the grunge genre mainstream, was right up there with the best of them.
The Registry houses sound recordings considered to be culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.
