Robert Plant opens charity gigs

Rock legend and former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has kicked-off a seven-day long concert series in aid of The Teenage Cancer Trust on Monday night.

The concerts are being held at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London and will feature performances from different artists every night; Plant, The Who's Roger Daltrey, Eric Clapton, as well as "new kids" Franz Ferdinand and Keane.

The concerts are expected to raise several hundred thousand British pounds for dedicated hospital wards for young cancer sufferers.

In February the charity's patron, Roger Daltrey, received an honour by the Queen of England for his efforts in raising more than £2m ($4m US) through rock concerts.
