Sting becomes a teacher again
Sting, former frontman of "The Police", went back to the classroom to teach music to a group of college students. Sting, real name Gordon Sumner, was famously a teacher before forming "The Police", the melodic soft rock trio of the 70s and 80s.In a publicity stunt, he walked into a music composition class at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The students, who had been told that their regular class was going to be filmed for a promotional video for the university, erupted in cheers as Sting and his band entered through a side door and performed "Message In A Bottle".
He later took questions from the audience, discussing unusual time signatures, his music influences and his composition techniques.
The British singer/bassist is currently touring US college campuses backed by only two guitarists and a drummer, a lineup reminiscent of his days with "The Police".
