U2 add third Croke Park concert
Dublin-born U2 have confirmed that they will be playing a third stadium concert in their home town. Until yesterday U2 were to play 2 concerts in Ireland on Friday 24 June and Saturday 25 June 2005 in Dublin's Croke Park. Both dates at the 80,000 capacity stadium sold out in record time so a third one on Monday June 27th has been added and announced at U2.com, the band's official website. Paul McGuinness, U2's manager from day 1, said: "The band is very excited to be playing to a quarter of a million people in their home town and we' re going to do all we can to ensure that the tickets are distributed fairly. Even with the extra 80,000 tickets I know there will be some disappointed fans, such is the demand. We are working on the details of putting the tickets on sale and will announce as soon as we can."
The Irish rockers are currently touring North America. They will visit European cities in the summer for the second leg of the "2005 Vertigo" tour and return to North America in the autumn for the third leg of the tour.
