A Tommy Lee summer
Motley Crue drummer, Tommy Lee, has a big summer ahead of him. His third solo album, "Tommyland: The Ride", is released in August and also has a new TV show out on NBC that same month called "Tommy Goes To College". The rocker follows up with the Motley Crue Tour: Red, White & Crue which runs through October. Tommy Lee apparently had a great time making the College show, "It is so bananas," Lee said of his college stint. "Just imagine, like, total fish out of water: rock star goes to college in Middle America... I tried out for the drum line, which I did in high school, and I had two weeks to learn their half-time show and all the drum patterns. They told me I could perform the half-time show with them. It was killer. I've got a bunch of new friends now."
The album has guest appearances from artists such as Jane's Addiction drummer Dave Navarro, Carl Bell from Fuel, and Sum 41 frontman Derick Whibley. Lee said, "I've been working my ass off. These are probably the best songs I've ever written in my life -- as the years go by I'm just getting better at my craft."
His first single, "Trying To Be Me", has just been released. "Tommyland: The Ride" is released August 2, 2005.
