The Darkness announce new bassist
The Darkness have decided Richie Edwards, a guitar technician with the band, will replace sacked bassist Frankie Poullain. Last month rumours were rife that Edwards would be replacing Poullain as the new bassist. The Darkness have now confirmed that Richie will be joining the band full time and in a statement frontman Justin Hawkins said, "Richie's a good laugh and he's really good at playing bass, and at this stage that's all that matters." Edwards spoke about joining the band, "it's difficult to put into words just how incredible it is. Music has been my life forever, and the only thin I've ever wanted to do is be in a band. After years spend trying to 'make it', in your late twenties you assume it's not going to happen and to be thrown this lifeline, to finally be given this opportunity... It's awesome - I just feel very lucky."
The band is wrapping up work on their new album which is set for release this autumn.
