Foo Fighters drummer has new project
Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins will issue the self-titled debut album from his side project, called Taylor Hawkins And The Coattail Riders, in January, according to MTV.com. Hawkins said about the trio, "I always thought if I had a band it would have the energy and feel of early Police, since that's where my roots are, and then the harmonies of the Eagles, and the technique of King Crimson or something like that. Fast, up-tempo, beat-the-hell-out-of-the-drums, because that's my style. Energy, but sophistication, rhythmically and melodically."Hawkins says that the Coattail Riders will tour later this year when Foo Fighters are on a break. The band also features former Jane's Addiction bassist Chris Chaney.
Tracks from the album can be heard at Hawkins' official website, TaylorHawkins.com.
Hawkins made his debut as a vocalist on a song called "Cold Day In The Sun," which appears on the new Foo Fighters album, In Your Honor. The two-CD set debuted at Number Two last week on the Billboard Top 200 with first-week sales of over 310,000, a career best for the band.
