Live 8 lineup politically incorrect

Damon Albarn, the Blur and Gorillaz singer, has accused Live 8 organisers suggesting that the lineup of artists is too Anglo-Saxon. The lack of black artists was "the greatest oversight" and undermined the whole project, the singer told the BBC.

"More than ever, black culture is an integral part of society, so why is the bill so damn Anglo-Saxon? If you are holding a party on behalf of people, then surely you don't shut the door on them" Albarn concluded.

The lineup for the London-leg of Live 8 includes Paul McCartney, U2, Velvet Revolver and Sting whereas the Philadelphia-leg includes Bon Jovi among others.

Shows in five cities - London, Philadelphia, Munich, Paris and Rome will take place on July 2 to raise awareness and press G8 leaders to increase aid, cancel debts and make trade fair for the world's poorest countries. A sixth concert will take place on the day of the G8 summit - June 6 in Edinburgh.
