Metallica frontman meets Yankee Sandman

Metallica frontman James Hetfield appeared at Yankee Stadium in New York City on Friday night (June 24, 2055), according to the New York Times. The Yankees had arranged for Hetfield to meet team closer Mariano Rivera, who comes into games with Metallica's "Enter Sandman" playing on the stadium's loudspeakers. Hetfield is also a friend of Yankees starting pitcher Randy Johnson.

Johnson reportedly warms up before pitching to a compilation of songs made for him by Hetfield. The singer and guitarist admitted he wasn't much of a baseball fan before becoming friends with Johnson.

Metallica are scheduled to begin working on a new album later this year.
