Velvet Revolver cancel European gigs

Grammy Award winners Velvet Revolver have scrapped the final five European concerts they had scheduled from July 3 through July 10. The cancelled shows are those in Montreux and Zurich (Switzerland), Reykjavik (Iceland), Bergen (Norway) and Turku (Finland).

The band's publicist has denied rumours of disputes between singer Scott Weiland (ex Stone Temple Pilots) and guitarist Slash (ex Guns N' Roses). She cited "family obligations" and album "pre-production work" as reasons for the concerts being cut short. The publicist didn't elaborate on what the "family matters" are or why the band had booked a tour if it knew it needed to be in the studio to work on its second album.

Velvet Revolver will be performing as scheduled at the London-leg of the Live 8 concert in Hyde Park on July 2, 2005.
