Bob Dylan to be inducted in UK HoF
Bob Dylan will be inducted in the 2nd annual UK Music Hall Of Fame, which honors outstanding contribution to music. According to the BBC, his year's inductees, which also includes legendary DJ John Peel, have been selected by a panel of more than 60 artists, music journalists, broadcasters and music industry execs. Last year's inaugural entries included Elvis Presley, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Queen, and Madonna. No broadcast date for the ceremony has been announced.Elsewhere on the Dylan front:
The soundtrack to the two-part the Martin Scorsese documentary on Dylan's early life, titled No Direction Home - Bootleg Series Volume 7, will first be released on August 30th. The set features previously unreleased renditions of Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land," as well as alternate versions classics such as "Blowin' In The Wind," "It's All Right Ma, I'm Only Bleeding," "Like A Rolling Stone," and "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue."
The Scorsese special No Direction Home, which documents Dylan's early years growing up in Minnesota through his breakthrough on the folk scene in Greenwich Village during the early '60s to just prior to his legendary motorcycle crash in 1966, will be issued on DVD on September 20th. It features exclusive interviews along with a rarely seen peak inside the archives, tape and stills collection.
No Direction Home will air in two parts in the US on PBS, on September 26th and 27th. Check your local listings for stations.
