Deep Purple bassist proud of Live 8
Deep Purple's Roger Glover is still on a high from the band's participation in the Live 8 concerts on July 2, 2005. They played in Barrie, Ontario, that day and Glover believes the movement can and will make a difference. The bassist wrote on his official rogerglover.com website, "Cynics will always have their opinions, but to experience the feeling of so many people uniting, whether for the music or the cause, was to tap into a consciousness that was truly exhilarating. One has to have faith that it will be a catalyst for good news in a world of bad."Following their set in Barrie, which included "Hush," "Smoke On The Water," and "Highway Star," Deep Purple flew on to their second show of the day, a gig in Rockford, Illinois, that was scheduled long before Live 8 was announced.
Deep Purple will release a new studio album called Rapture Of The Deep later this year.
The band continued their world tour with their first ever show in Cyprus on Friday, July 15th, before moving to Crete and mainland Greece for more shows.
