Foo Fighters bassist on acting debut

Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel makes his cinematic debut as both a composer and actor in the new independent film, Our Burden Is Light. Mendel not only wrote the score for the movie, but also appears in the film as a bass player in a rock band. While Mendel admits that the role wasn't exactly a stretch, he told us that he thoroughly enjoyed the experience:

You know, you get up onstage, and you're doing the videos with the band and all that kind of thing, and you're sort of familiar with being in front of a camera. Especially doing it independently like this, where it was very do-it-yourself. It reminded me of doing punk bands when I was kid, it was the same kind of thing."

Our Burden Is Light is now available on DVD and comes with a bonus CD featuring Mendel's score. More information can be found at ourburdenislight.com.

Meanwhile, Foo Fighters have officially confirmed their co-headlining North American tour this autumn with Weezer. Although exact dates and venues are still being firmed up, the trek will run from early September through late October.

Among the cities on the itinerary are Atlanta, Tampa, Houston, Austin, Dallas, San Diego, Phoenix, Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago, Grand Rapids, Detroit, Cleveland, Columbus, Baltimore, New York, Philadelphia and Seattle.
