Iggy Pop releases new anthology
Iggy Pop's entire recording career is represented on A Million In Prizes: The Iggy Pop Anthology, which comes out today (Tuesday, July 19th). The singer was actively involved in compiling the two-disc, 38-song set, which stretches from the first Stooges album in 1969 to 2003's Skull Ring. Iggy Pop told us that working on the anthology made him feel good about the approach he's taken over the years: [

I heard a guy in Poison the other day say 'I never wanted to be a musician. I wanted to be a rock star. That's what I became,' which is fine, but not me. I started out to be a musician. I'll stick with that, thank you very much." A Million In Prizes includes favorites like "Lust For Life," "Search and Destroy," "China Girl," "The Passenger," and "Candy." It also includes two previously unreleased live tracks, "TV Eye" and "Loose," recorded at the Felle Festival in 1993.
Expanded versions of the Stooges' first two albums, 1969's The Stooges and 1970's Fun House, will be released on August 16th.
Since reuniting with the Stooges in 2003, Iggy Pop has continued touring with the group and has even been recording new material. The band will play England's Leeds Festival on August 26th and stick around the UK for the Reading Festival on August 28th.
