New Police DVD, fundraising for Sting
Universal Music (UK) have announced the Monday September 5th 2005 DVD premiere release of "The Police - Synchronicity Concert". The show was filmed at their final concert on their Synchronicity World Tour (and their last ever Police concert) in Melbourne, Australia 1984. The DVD also boasts - for the first time ever - four songs performed in multi-angle at their Montreal concert (in 1983) on the same world tour. The audio has been remixed in 5.1 Surround Sound, and includes three different audio soundtracks including dts, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, and 2.0 Dolby Digital Stereo.
The songs performed during the concert include their most memorable hit singles including Every Breath You Take, Roxanne and Message in a Bottle.
In related news, Sting and his wife Trudie Styler along with Bette Midler and Elton John are set to attend the annual Hulaween fundraiser in New York City on October 31st. Proceeds from the event will go to the New York Restoration Project, an organization founded by Midler that's dedicated to improving under-resourced parks, community gardens and open space throughout New York City. At the event, Sting and Styler will receive the annual "Wind Beneath My Wings" Award for their environmental efforts. This year's Hulaween will also celebrate Midler's 60th birthday with a special performance by Elton.
Midler founded the nonprofit New York Restoration Project in 1995 with the belief that clean and green neighborhoods are fundamental to the quality of life and that every community in New York City deserves an oasis of natural beauty, according to an official release.
