REM team up with Pearl Foundation
The members of REM have joined the honorary committee for the Daniel Pearl Music Days 2005, a series of concerts that will take place to honour Pearl, a journalist who was murdered in Pakistan in 2002. According to Undercover.com.au, REM singer Michael Stipe is looking forward to participating in Music Days, a series of concerts and performances aimed at promoting cross-cultural understanding through journalism, music and communications. Stipe said, "We are excited to be working with the Daniel Pearl Foundation and its diverse Honorary Committee for their annual Music Days events. We celebrate and support the Foundation's mission of promoting cross-cultural understanding by connecting people through words and music."
Last year, over 400 concerts in 39 countries took place to mark the event.
