SOAD thrilled by Mezmerize success

The members of System Of A Down knew their band was popular, but the success of new album Mezmerize has been a pleasant surprise. The disc debuted at Number One on the Billboard Top 200 after its May release and has already sold over a million copies worldwide. Guitarist Daron Malakian told us that neither he nor his bandmates are taking their success for granted:

Not too many people are interested in rock bands these days, you know. So, for me to be in a rock band people are actually interested in is really special for me."

Hypnotize, a companion album to Mezmerize that was recorded during the same sessions, is due to be released this autumn.

System Of A Down begin their North American tour on August 4th in Long Beach, California.
