Doors guitarist: "A name is just a name"
Doors guitarist Robby Krieger and keyboardist Ray Manzarek will reveal their new name for the current incarnation of the band this Friday (August 5th). A Los Angeles court ruled last week that they could no longer use the word "Doors" in the band name due to objections by former drummer John Densmore and the estate of late singer Jim Morrison. Krieger told us that no matter what name he and Manzarek choose, he's confident fans will still know who's playing: [

They know it's Ray and I and Ian. You know, a name is a name." Manzarek, Krieger, and former Cult singer Ian Astbury began using the Doors of the 21st Century name in 2003. Densmore, along with the estates of Morrison and his wife Pamela Courson, sued and won a permanent injunction against any reference to the Doors in the name.
The group is taping a VH1 Classic show this week, Decades Rock Live, which is slated to air this autumn.
