Doors members working on box set
Doors members John Densmore, Robby Krieger, and Ray Manzarek haven't let their legal battles get in the way of working together on some upcoming projects. The band will celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2007, and they're starting the celebration this fall with a limited-edition box set called Love/Death/Travel. The set will have three CDs that span the band's career; a DVD with live footage, as well as 5.1 Surround Sound audio of the songs "Hello, I Love You," "The Unknown Soldier," and "Riders On The Storm" and updates of "L.A. Woman," "Break On Through," and "Roadhouse Blues" by superstar remixers Paul Oakenfold, BT, and the Crystal Method; and unreleased photos, according to rollingstone.com. Only 5,000 copies of the box will be produced, and they'll be sold through the rhinohandmade.com website. The title Love/Death/Travel comes from a 1967 quote by frontman Jim Morrison, who said, "All our songs are about love, travel and death."
Densmore recently won a permanent injunction against Manzarek and Krieger using the word "DOORS" in the name of their current band. They have since changed it from the Doors Of The 21st Century to Riders On The Storm.
The Krieger-Manzarek band, with Ian Astbury from the Cult on vocals, will appear on the VH1 Classic series Decades Rock Live this fall.
The Doors survivors are also participating in a documentary about the band that will include never-before-seen footage of the band. It should be ready in time for their anniversary in 2007.
