Lynyrd Skynyrd postpone US shows
Lynyrd Skynyrd have been forced to put their tour schedule on hold for the immediate future to give frontman Johnny Van Zant a break. Van Zant has been diagnosed with "significant vocal cord inflammation and swelling," and doctors have put him on strict vocal rest. That's forced the band to postpone several of their upcoming shows this month. It's unknown if Van Zant will make it back in time for the five shows in September that Skynyrd will play with the Allman Brothers Band. The affected Lynyrd Skynyrd dates in August include:
11th - Chillicothe, OH - moved to September 17
12th - Sedalia, MO
13th - Springfield, IL
16th - Sevierville, TN - September 25th
18th - Dallas, TX
19th - Beaumont, TX
20th - The Woodlands, TX
21th - Stillwater, OK
In 2003, founder and lead guitarist Gary Rossington's emergency heart surgery and recovery time kept the band off the road for a while.
