Pearl Jam launch digital download store

Pearl Jam will launch their own digital download store at the band's official website on September 1st, according to Billboard. The group will make concerts available for downloading just hours after they're performed, with the complete show available for $9.99. Each download will be accompanied by special artwork, and a slide show of photos from the performance will run while the files are downloaded. The files will not be copy-protected, which means that they can be burned to a CD or transferred to a portable player.

The first shows to be made available will be all the dates on the band's upcoming Canadian tour, as well as selected US autumn concerts.

There's no word on whether the band will make any of its past concerts available for download. The group has been selling "official bootleg" CDs of shows on its last few tours for several years, with the group moving more than three million copies of the live discs.

Pearl Jam also plan to release their eighth studio album early next year.
