Professor: Beatles on British money

A professor in the hometown of the Beatles says the band's likeness should be on British money. Professor Drummond Bone, who's the Chairman of the Liverpool Culture board and the Vice Chancellor of the University Of Liverpool, said the Beatles should appear on the back of England's 20-pound note because "they inspired a generation and turned pop into art," according to the BBC. A spokesperson for the Bank Of England said, "If the Liverpool Culture Company want to write to us with their request, it will certainly be considered," but the representative also said the committee that decides such things usually reserves such an honor for people who have already died.

Liverpool will be named the European Capital Of Culture in 2008. The revolving title is currently held by Cork, Ireland.
