Sharon Osbourne vs Iron Maiden (part 4)
In a new interview with UK magazine Kerrang!, Sharon Osbourne has admitted that she orchestrated the throwing of eggs at Iron Maiden during the band's final OzzFest date. Osbourne told the magazine, which arrived on British newsstands today (Wednesday, August 31st), that she directed everything that happened to the band on August 20th in Devore, California: "Of course I did. I had the PA turned on and off. And look, it's not hard for someone to walk into a diehard OzzFest crowd and say, 'Who wants to throw an egg at a rock star?' Who wouldn't wanna do that? I went out and bought 50 eggs and me and my daughter had a fucking blast. C'mon, it's rock 'n' roll. No one died. They'll be waiting a long fucking time for an apology from me."Osbourne also repeated her charges that Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson had disrespected her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, and OzzFest itself throughout the tour: "(Dickinson would) stand up on that stage and say that this wasn't the OzzFest anymore, it was Maiden-fest. How fucking disrespectful is that?...We've had 220 bands play this tour over the last 10 years and I've never felt the need to egg anyone."
Sharon Osbourne did not address whether the tour would refund money to concertgoers who had come to Devore to see an uninterrupted performance by Iron Maiden.
This summer's OzzFest comes to a close this weekend. The festival is scheduled to play Antioch, Tennessee tonight (Wednesday, August 31st), Charlotte, North Carolina on Friday (September 2nd) and wrap up on Sunday (September 4th) in West Palm Beach, Florida.
