Van Halen suing Baltimore Orioles

Van Halen are suing the Baltimore Orioles for a concert that never happened at the baseball team's stadium last year. The band claims that they agreed to perform the first-ever concert at Oriole Park At Camden Yards in Baltimore on September 2nd, 2004, and were to be paid $1.5 million, plus 80 percent of the merchandise and ticket proceeds. In a suit filed in California last year, Van Halen management said the team pulled the plug at the last minute, and the group couldn't schedule a new concert somewhere else to make up the lost date and revenue. The Orioles tried to have the case dismissed, but the judge ruled against the team. Van Halen is suing for "at least $2 million," according to the Baltimore Sun, and an attorney for the band told the Associated Press that a trial in Los Angeles is "imminent."

The concert would have featured the reunited lineup of guitarist Eddie Van Halen, singer Sammy Hagar, bassist Michael Anthony, and drummer Alex Van Halen. Their tour ended on a bad note, and Hagar has since told people that he has no interest in going back to the group again, at least not until Eddie Van Halen changes his ways.

Hagar wrapped up a short tour with his band the WaboRitas yesterday (Sunday, August 14th).

Anthony has played a few shows with Hagar, and he's also developing new products for his line of hot sauces and condiments.

There's been no word from Eddie or Alex Van Halen since the tour ended last year.
