Aerosmith guitarist for Boston award
Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry has been nominated for a Boston Music Award (BMA) for a non-band project. His self-titled solo album, which came out earlier this year, is listed in the Major Label Album Of The Year category. Perry is competing against rock acts the Lost City Angels and American Hi-Fi, singer-songwriters Aimee Mann and Ray LaMontagne, and jazz guitarist Pat Metheny. The 18th annual BMAs will be handed out September 28th at the Avalon Ballroom in Boston. That's what rounded it out and made it into an album, as opposed to, like, 14 or 15 demos." Aerosmith are no stranger to the BMAs. In 2002, they won Album Of The Year for Just Push Play and Video Of The Year for "Jaded," and in 2004, they won the Major Label Album Of The Year Award for Honkin On Bobo. The band got shut out in 2003, when frontman Steven Tyler was listed in the Male Vocalist Of The Year category and the band was nominated as Act Of The Year, Rock/Pop Band, and Song Of The Year.
The band is expected to return to action this autumn with a live album and a tour.
