Eric Clapton pays tribute to Les Paul
Eric Clapton is among the many superstars appearing on Les Paul & Friends: American Made, American Played, a new album celebrating Paul's 90th birthday. He joins Paul for a version of Sam Cooke's "Somebody Ease My Troublin' Mind," which grafts Cooke's original vocal onto the newly recorded instrumental track. Clapton told us it was an honor to be able to pay tribute to Paul: [

And it sounded great to me, sounded like an interesting thing to do. So, I'm up for anything like that, really." Clapton is joined on American Made, World Played by Sting, Peter Frampton, the Rolling Stones' Keith Richards, ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons, Journey's Neal Schon, Steve Miller, and others.
Clapton released a new album of his own, Back Home, on Tuesday (August 30th).
He plans to tour in support of Back Home in 2006. There are rumors he'll play with a reunited Cream in October in New York City, but the dates have not yet been confirmed.
