Green Day reflect on American Idiot

One year to the day (September 21st) that it came out, Green Day's American Idiot is shaping up as the most successful album of the band's career after its 1994 major label debut, Dookie. But American Idiot was also a commercial and creative risk for the group, and bassist Mike Dirnt told us that they really had no idea how their "punk opera" would be received:

The four-million-selling American Idiot was named Best Rock Album at this year's Grammy Awards, and two videos from the disc earned the band seven MTV Video Music Awards last month.

Green Day were nominated on Tuesday, September 20th, for two American Music Awards - for Best Rock Or Pop Group and Best Rock Or Pop Album.

The trio will release a concert DVD on November 15th, called Bullet In A Bible. It was filmed in June at the Milton Keynes Bowl in England, the band's first-ever headlining stadium show.
