Live 8 DVD due in November
The official DVD package from the Live 8 concerts in July will be released November 8th. The four-DVD set is simply titled Live 8, and it includes every artist from the London and Philadelphia shows, as well as key moments from the other concerts on July 2nd. The performances are featured on the first three discs, while the fourth has bonuses including Pink Floyd's rehearsal for their reunion, a film by the Who, and a documentary filmed backstage at Hyde Park that's never been seen before. The footage will be available in both stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound. In addition, there will also be single DVDs available that will focus on the Paris, Berlin, Rome, and Toronto shows.
Live 8 organizer Bob Geldof said, "I hope this will be the biggest-selling DVD of all time. It deserves to be. More importantly perhaps, it should be, for it will help us achieve our goal of changing the lives of the extreme poor for the better and making our generation the one that helped end the disgrace of poverty." A "generous royalty" from the sales of the Live 8 DVDs will go to the Band Aid Trust, which continues to fight poverty and hunger in Africa.
