Rock N' Roll HoF nominees announced
The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame appears to be trying to play catch-up with its latest group of finalists. The ballot for the shrine's class of 2006 is loaded with previous nominees, including Black Sabbath, Blondie, the J. Geils Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, John Mellencamp, the Sex Pistols, the Patti Smith Group, the Stooges, and Joe Tex. Also on the ballot are the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, the Dave Clark Five, the Sir Douglas Quintet, the rap group Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, and Miles Davis, the legendary trumpeter who helped pioneer jazz-rock fusion. The Hall of Fame voters each select eight of the 16 nominees. The deadline for votes is October 14th, and the inductees are expected to be announced in late November. The induction ceremony will likely take place in mid-March of 2006 in New York City.
Black Sabbath's Ozzy Osbourne and the Sex Pistols' Johnny Rotten have previously said they have no desire to be voted into the Hall of Fame.
