System Of A Down shoot Hypnotize video

System Of A Down will shoot the video for the title track from their upcoming album, Hypnotize, on Wednesday, September 28th, at the band's concert in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Lead singer Serj Tankian told us why this clip will be different from previous ones:

This will be our first true live video that we'll ever be making, so that's kind of cool. What will it look like? I'm not really sure. There's gonna be a lot of cameras, from what I'm told."

The video for "Hypnotize" will be directed by System bassist Shavo Odadjian. The album Hypnotize is out on November 22nd.

In other SOAD news, the band held a rally yesterday (Tuesday, September 27th) at the Illinois office of U.S. Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert to ask him to allow a vote on pending Armenian Genocide legislation in the full U.S. House of Representatives. The band invited fans to join them at the event and Tankian told us he was pleased with how it turned out:
[ click here to listen if you have a Backstage Pass] "It went really well. The square in front of the Speaker of the House's offices were, was pretty much full of people, and everyone was really supportive and they were holding signs and chanting and whatnot, and I read the letter that I was going to turn in to the Speaker's office, and turned in the letter of course. It was a really, really great rally, really positive."

If passed, the legislation will officially recognize the slaughter of 1.5 million Armenians between 1915 and 1923 at the hands of Turkey during World War I. All four members of System Of A Down lost family members in the genocide.

Speaker Hastert has twice prevented the legislation from coming to a vote in the full U.S. House of Representatives, despite voicing his support for it in 2000.
