Velvet Revolver donate for Katrina
Velvet Revolver perform on Tuesday, September 6th, at Hard Rock Live in Orlando, Florida, with all proceeds from ticket and bar sales going to the Red Cross to help the people of Mississippi and Louisiana affected by Hurricane Katrina. According to Blabbermouth, the band was originally scheduled to play the opening concert at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Biloxi on September 9th. Tickets for the show are $45, and the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando, along with many of its vendors, are also donating time and money.Velvet Revolver were also part of the final OzzFest stop on Sunday (September 4th) in West Palm Beach, Florida, at which Red Cross volunteers were on hand to collect cash donations from concertgoers for rescue and relief efforts.
Meanwhile, Camp Freddy, the "covers" band that includes Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum and ex-Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro, will make its September 29th show in Los Angeles a charity event, with proceeds going to the Red Cross for disaster relief. Camp Freddy and ex-Cult bassist Billy Morrison posted the announcement at the Camp Freddy website, adding, "I don't have the words to express my utter disbelief at what has happened in the southern states over the last few days."
