After London, Cream hit New York
Cream kicked off their second set of reunion shows on Monday, October 24th, with the first of three concerts at New York City's Madison Square Garden. The group played London in May, marking the first time the famously combative trio of Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, and Ginger Baker had performed together since 1968. Clapton told us that it just felt like the right time for the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers to work together again: [

I suppose from just having really come full circle in my own life and really enjoying my family and feeling like it would be good to do something worthwhile, not just leave that as a memory. You know, when, when everyone was still available to do it." Considered by many as rock's first "supergroup" because of its members' previous credentials, Cream were together from 1966 to 1968 and released four albums that included hits like "Badge," "Sunshine Of Your Love," "White Room" and "Crossroads." A series of compilations and live albums followed the group's demise.
The May shows in London yielded the CD and DVD sets, Royal Albert Hall London May 2-3-5-6 2005.
Cream will also play on Tuesday and Wednesday (October 25th and 26th) at Madison Square Garden. There's no word on any future plans for the group. Eric Clapton recently released a new album, called Back Home, and plans to tour in 2006. You can request songs from his new album if you have a Backstage Pass.
