Bono has lunch with George W Bush
U2 frontman Bono had lunch with President George W. Bush on Wednesday, October 19th at the White House to continue talks that began at July's G-8 summit in Scotland. According to the Associated Press, they discussed several issues, including AIDS, malaria and poverty. Bono also met with National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley before U2 took the stage at Washington D.C.'s MCI Center last night. The president wasn't at the show. White House spokesperson Scott McClellan laughed when reporters asked if he was planning to attend.Ever wonder why the U2 frontman is rarely spotted without his sunglasses? It's not just a fashion accessory. The 45-year-old singer told Rolling Stone magazine that he often sports shades because he's actually very sensitive to light. Bono explained, "If somebody takes my photograph, I will see the flash for the rest of the day. My right eye swells up."
Bono usually wears pricey sunglasses made by the Italian designer Bulgari and calls himself, quote "The Imelda Marcos of sunglasses."
Imelda Marcos was the First Lady of the Philippines, known for her massive collection of shoes, while her husband Ferdinand Marcos was president.
