Cream continue New York reunion shows
Cream continue their second set of 2005 reunion shows on Wednesday, October 26th, at New York City's Madison Square Garden. The band's original run, from 1966 to '68, helped perpetuate the "(Eric) Clapton is God" message scrawled on walls around London for a long time. You know, I never saw myself as being that much better than anybody, really. I mean, I just saw myself as being another guitar player who knew a little bit about, you know, the history of it all. I didn't ever really see myself as being particularly gifted, so it was very difficult to absorb all that kind of early adulation." After "the world's first supergroup", the singer-guitarist worked with two other bands, Blind Faith and Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, before starting his solo career in earnest with 1970's Eric Clapton album.
The Cream lineup, which also includes bassist Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker, have announced no plans for future reunion shows.
The trio's May shows in London yielded the CD and DVD sets, Royal Albert Hall London May 2-3-5-6 2005.
Eric Clapton plans to tour in 2006 to promote his recently released CD, Back Home. You can request tracks from the album if you have a Backstage Pass.
