The Edge comfortable with Bono's profile

While U2 frontman Bono has always had a higher profile than his bandmates, that's been taken to new extremes this year. He's been the subject of three books, he was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for his work on African poverty relief, and he's on the cover, by himself, of the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine. But U2 guitarist The Edge told us that the other members of the band are comfortable with the role their singer plays outside the group:

Certainly early on we did a lot more because I felt personally that there was a risk of things being misinterpreted or his intentions being called into question. But I think at this point in time, you know, it's so well established what he's up to and what his agenda is. I don't think there's much chance of people misinterpreting or, you know, getting confused or let down."

Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner conducted an interview with Bono for the magazine's current issue.

The Bono book titles include Bono: In Conversation With Michka Assaya, Laura Jackson's Bono: His Life, Music, And Passions, and Bono: In The Name Of Love by Mick Wall.

U2's Vertigo tour continued on Friday, October 28th, in Houston, Texas.
