Foo Fighters to play Johnny Cash tribute
Foo Fighters are among the artists paying tribute to late country legend Johnny Cash in a November 16th special on CBS-TV. Also performing on the show, dubbed I Walk the Line: A Night For Johnny Cash, are U2, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Martina McBride, Jerry Lee Lewis, Alison Krauss, Kris Kristofferson, Dwight Yoakam, Brad Paisley and Shooter Jennings. The one-hour concert will air two days before a movie based on Cash's life, called Walk The Line, arrives in theaters. The film stars Joaquin Phoenix as Cash and Reese Witherspoon as his wife, June Carter Cash. The two leads, along with Dennis Quaid, will appear on the TV special to introduce the performances.
Cash died in September of 2003 after suffering complications from diabetes. Throughout his lifetime, Cash -- known as "The Man In Black" -- recorded more than 1,500 songs.
Foo Fighters play with co-headliners Weezer in Portland, Oregon on Tuesday, October 25th.
