Franz Ferdinand to record new music
Not only have Franz Ferdinand just released their second album, You Could Have It So Much Better, but the band has a double-DVD on tap for November 22nd. While that disc doesn't contain any new music, singer Alex Kapranos told us he'd be very happy to put out another album as soon as possible: [

I kind of prefer in a way the mid-Sixties workaholic kind of attitude where they try to get the bands into the studio twice a year to record something new. Then you're pushing the most important part of the band -- the creative side of the band." Kapranos added that the band is going into recording studios to lay down new music whenever possible.
You Could Have It So Much Better debuted at number One in the UK and at Number Eight on the Billboard Top 200 chart last week, with first-week sales of 81,202 copies.
Franz Ferdinand's two-disc DVD package does not yet have a title. The first disc will collect live performances filmed all over the world, karaoke clips for two songs that fans can sing along to, and a behind-the-scenes documentary called Tour De Franz. The second disc will include two complete live shows from London and San Francisco, extensive interviews with the band and three additional live songs filmed on the quartet's 2004 tour of Australia and New Zealand.
The band will perform on this weekend's (October 22nd) edition of Saturday Night Live in America.
