Original REM lineup reunites

The original R.E.M. line-up reunited this past weekend (Saturday, October 8th) to play a wedding in their native city of Athens, Georgia. According to the band's web site, Michael Stipe, Peter Buck and Mike Mills teamed up with former drummer Bill Berry to play a seven-song set at the wedding of REM's guitar tech, Dewitt Burton. It marks only the second time they have all played together since 1997.

Nearly 300 wedding guests were lucky enough to hear the performance, which featured several older songs, including "The One I Love," "Permanent Vacation" and their first single, "Radio Free Europe."

Berry left the group in 1997 to retire to life on his farm after recovering from a brain aneurysm.
