Paul McCartney not intimidated by his past
Paul McCartney knows that any time he releases a new album, it will be measured against his previous work, particularly with the Beatles. But he told us that he's learned to keep his famous past in check: "You've got this body of work, and you could get a bit intimidated by it and go 'Oh my God, I've done this -- I can never write again!' But I kind of like it so much, I like the process so much that, perhaps foolishly, that doesn't really occur to me. I just go 'Yeah, I'm gonna have a go,' like I always did. I sort of start with nothing and end up with something." Macca is currently on a North American tour to promote his latest release, Chaos And Creation In The Backyard.
McCartney played most of the instruments on Chaos And Creation..., like he did on 1970's self-named and 1980's McCartney II.
Chaos And Creation... debuted at Number Six on the Billboard Top 200 in September, making it his 45th Top Ten release since Meet The Beatles in 1964.
Macca performs on Monday, October 10th, in Toronto, Canada, then takes the rest of the week off until a pair of weekend concerts in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
