Roger Daltrey: TV talent shows are stupid

Roger Daltrey of the Who took time out to bash Britain's talent show called X Factor - which, like American Idol, is produced and co-hosted by Simon Cowell, along with fellow judge Sharon Osbourne on Channel 4. Daltrey told gigwise, "(Those) people are stupid. They're not artists. You have to go into this industry because you have talent - not because you want to sell records and make money." Daltrey went on to say, "Watching those (talent) shows is like watching the Victorians watching the lunatics in the loony bin. It's sad."

The Who singer, who's currently on hiatus from the Who, will try his hand at mentoring a less driven set of wanna-be rockers, when he takes part in the 2006 Rock And Roll Fantasy Camp, to be held next February in Los Angeles.

Prior to that, he and Pete Townshend are set to meet in London to discuss plans for recording the first new Who album in nearly 24 years.
