Rolling Stones team up with Starbucks
The Rolling Stones will team up with coffee retailer Starbucks on November 22nd, to release the new album, titled Rarities 1971-2003. Although the set will be available at the coffee chain's outlets, it will also be sold at traditional record stores. Rarities 1971-2003 features 16 tracks, including live versions "Tumbling Dice," "Beast Of Burden," and "Wild Horses," dance remixes of "Miss You" and "Harlem Shuffle," and B-sides, such as their live 1971 cover of Chuck Berry's "Let It Rock," which was recorded live at Leeds University on March 13th, 1971 during their Farewell Britain tour, prior to the group becoming tax exiles in France.Mick Jagger issued a statement saying that he wished more of the Stones' unreleased work would find its way to the public, explaining that, "With every studio session, there are always songs that never appear on the final album and at the time you think, 'what a shame that song did not make it.' Rarities is a collection of the best of these overlooked bits."
Keith Richards went on to say, "When you listen to Rarities, you can hear that there is definitely some basic thread that runs through everything we've done since we were 19... Half of it is a feeling, and half of it is just the style we developed."
The Stones will be playing on Friday night (October 28th) at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta.
