System Of A Down deliver Hypnotize

"Hypnotize" is the name of System Of A Down's new single and the first taste of music from its upcoming album of the same name. While the new disc is the second half of one large recording project that started with last May's Mezmerize CD, System singer Serj Tankian told us that there are differences between the two: "If I was to say a couple of characteristic differences listening to Hypnotize versus Mezmerize, I'd say, in general, that it might be a little more progressive sounding, yet it still has all the, you know, beautiful, melodic overtones and everything that our songs have. But I think it might have a little more movement than Mezmerize."

Hypnotize will be released on November 22nd. A DualDisc version of Hypnotize will feature behind-the-scenes footage from the making of both albums.

The artwork for both discs combines to form one unified image, while the last song on Hypnotize, called "Soldier's Side," completes "Soldier's Side Intro," which opens Mezmerize.

SOAD shot the video for the song "Hypnotize" on September 28th in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with bassist Shavo Odadjian directing.

The band closes out its North American tour on Wednesday, October 12th, in Las Vegas, Nevada, with more dates planned for early 2006.
