ZZ Top guitarist publishes book
ZZ Top's Reverend Billy F. Gibbons has switched from rocker to author with the publication of Billy F. Gibbons: Rock And Roll Gearhead, which documents his passion for guitars and cars. The book combines a memoir with more than 200 photos of the vintage cars and guitars Gibbons owns. He told us that the 192-page tome was a labor of love: [
click here to listen if you have a Backstage Pass] "It took about six months of good, honest, hard work, and we just went deep into what we love the most, and that's cars, guitars, and, of course, pretty girls - you can't leave those out. We go back to the first days at the ripe old age of 13, when we found that Gibson Melody Maker under the Christmas tree and started whamming on it ever since." Rock And Roll Gearhead was co-written with Los Angeles-based journalist and producer Tom Vickers. The photos were taken by David Perry, who's published three previous car books.
The book documents the career of the band, as well as Gibbons' experiences with musicians such as Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, and Janis Joplin.
ZZ Top perform on Tuesday, October 18th, in Hollywood, Florida.
