AC/DC bootleg a fraud

The previously announced bootleg album reportedly containing the earliest known recording of AC/DC is apparently a fraud, according to the collectors' web site, AC/DC Highway To Hell. A posting at the site revealed that the record has turned out to be "nothing more than a glorified rumor created by someone in Europe to cause a stir. Apparently no such recording exists, as something like this would have surfaced many many years ago by now if it did."

The record, titled In The Beginning, allegedly documented a concert recorded in March of 1974 at the Hampton Court Hotel in Sydney, Australia. The lineup of the band consisted of guitarists Angus and Malcolm Young, original singer Dave Evans, bassist Neil Smith and drummer Noel Taylor.

AC/DC have a new album and world tour in the works for 2006.
